The European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), in collaboration with the European Network of Judicial Inspection Services (RESIJ) and the General Inspectorate of Judicial Affairs of the Superior Council of the Judiciary of the Kingdom of Morocco, organised a Regional Conference for the creation of a South-Mediterranean network of judicial inspection services, which took place in Casablanca (Morocco) on 11 and 12 May 2022.
The conference brought together representatives of the General Inspectorates of Justice from countries in the southern Mediterranean region (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine* and Tunisia) and certain European countries that are members of RESIJ (Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Romania). It was structured around workshops on the status and competences of the justice inspectorates, the implementation of their missions to monitor individuals and the organisation of the courts, and the prospects and new missions of the inspectorates. The second day was devoted to setting up a South-Mediterranean network of justice inspectorates.
